Hey, guys! Faith here again to give you the rundown on the mini-events that will happen post-endgame. I'm just pulling these out of note I left with the mod email, so they'll be very short and general just so you know the state of things throughout final closure. If you have any ideas or suggestions, go ahead and post them in the comments below and put them into play. Feel free to post logs or handwave events as you please! There is a general catch-all log for these here.

DAY 578 ( MAR. 1/2 )
Asgard is officially announced free of the Grey Sickness. The gods and their native citizens begin tearing down old fortifications from the war so that they can break down the great wall and reunite the Holy City with the world at large. With the Gates gone, trade and travellers can move through the city freely, bringing with it new life and more wares.

DAY 580 ( MAR. 5/6 )
After things finally settle, all of the gods in Yggdrasil converge in Asgard to hold council about plans for the future. The most pressing matter on the agenda is the Travellers; it's been known since the beginning that there were those that wished to stay. The gods discuss the impossibility of it, however much the Travellers might deserve the choice, and discussions for the most part do not go well.

That is, until Honir snaps awake when Njord slams his hand on the table. He immediately mumbles that all they need to do is tie this thing over there and split that right there and then the portal will be held open for eternity. Odin contemplates and confirms Honir's unintelligible ramblings, much to the confusion of the rest of the gods and Mimir's immense pride.

From this point onward, characters will be able to come and go as they please. They can only travel to their own home world and they will not be able to retain memories of Asgard in their home world, but they can always return but simply imagining it so. Old and new characters can also feel free to stumble their way back to the Holy City at will.

DAY 583 ( MAR. 11/12 )
Frigg, being the closest physical being to the Mother, will grant her powers of nurturing to any Travellers that would like to encourage the World Tree to grow. These will exist alongside current House Powers, and will allow Travellers to bring forth new life ( mountain ranges, forests, rivers, any natural body the mind can imagine ) through any variation of song, dance, confessions of truth or love, and making merry.

On the same day, there will be a general plant-a-tree festival around the entirety of Asgard's kingdom. Any participants will be given gourds of blessed water to pour onto the newly buried seeds that will encourage them to grow at ten times the normal rate. Later, there's the standard big ol' party with music and food and more of Frigg's magic merry making. Think Asgard Burning Man 418.

DAY 585 ( MAR. 15/16 )
Any Travellers that claim permanent or near-to-permanent residency within Yggdrasil will be given the opportunity to become ambassadors to the world. Small councils will be formed and sent into the various kingdoms to begin rebuilding with the idea of "unity" in mind, that the whole of Yggdrasil should live connected to one another instead of separated onto different corners of the map. This includes the now-abandoned Giant kingdoms, whose harsh terrains have softened into more habitable locations. And is it just a trick of the mind, or do they seem closer in distance? Every race of every kingdom comes together for these efforts, settling into these united lands and creating new cultures of mixing pots all across the map.

DAY 590 ( MAR. 25/26 )
New Giants are born into the world, representing Yggdrasil's now flourishing life. They are brought to Asgard from Ginnungagap and adopted by various peoples across the land, to be raised in unison with the newly formed cultures of diversity. The Loki twins are declared the new Kings of Giants, and though they rule together and justly between Asgard and Utgard, they encourage a little too much playfulness and are brought under advisement by Mimir. Travellers are welcome to present teachings, assist in rehabilitation, and adoption of these new neutral Giants.

DAY 600 AND ONWARD
Things continue in the general direction of rebuilding civilization under a new light of unity and peace. It's not an easy task, and there are surely struggles on the path forward, but the Travellers' presence and good will is never forgotten and so the land grows to cherish the possibility of healing.

Let me know if you have any questions and once again, thanks for everything, guys!

Hey, all! This is Faith - I offered to help AJ with finishing up the last event a couple weeks ago when I started handing out metaplot research, and since I haven't heard back on my plot suggestion but your frustrations have been heard, I talked to AJ and I'm just going to go ahead and give you guys the last of my plot notes that I left her with. I want to apologise for how we left you guys hanging, and I hope that at the very least, I can give you something to work with to wrap up your character's involvement in Asgard Eventide.

Be warned: this post will be long ( longer than my usual long post ) because it's wrapping up everything you guys have worked on over the last several years, and I'm trying not to miss anything. Please feel free to skip down to the actual event if you don't want to read all the other metaplot wrap-up.

Without further ado:

ENDGAME PLOT EVENT: FROM THE ASHES

ENDGAME METAPLOT INFO )

ENDGAME PLOT EVENT )

This is the conclusion of the endgame event. I have a few mini-event type things that I can write up for you guys if you want them to carry you through March and give you an opportunity to conclude any remaining CR, just lmk and I'll get them posted when I have time. Please leave any and all questions here and I'll try to get back to you as soon as possible. I'll post an event log for this tomorrow afternoon. Thank you guys so much for going on this journey with us!

07 February 2015 @ 07:50 pm
About halfway through the events of the E.T. Phone Home catastrophe, the gods will push a message (which may or may not have been penned entirely by Freyr) en masse to all bracelets connected to the network. It will cut through the static and network malfunctions to read:
The World Tree is dying. You are resourceful heroes, Travelers, and you've saved this world once already from Thiazi. Now, please: help us save it from itself.

Our resources are at your disposal. Let us work together from now until the end, whenever that might be.
Currently, Asgard has a "stock" endgame in store, but how the events pan out (and what exactly those events are going to be) can be easily influenced by the Travelers interested in doing so. This is a post for OOC discussion about things to do and try, and also a place for handwaving IC research/investigation.

Think of this a little like Dungeons and Dragons: since it's not feasible to expect someone to RP "sitting in the library for two days researching X topic," HERE is an example of how the handwaving will go. Are they writing a letter to the dwarves? Pestering the dragons? Poring over books from the forbidden section of Vanaheim? Let me know, and we'll work out what they find out, and how it could be useful! There is no "right" answer, or certain "revelation" that I'm looking for in particular. If you think your character might get involved, go ahead and post under that heading! If you want to start some non-handwaved IC discussion between characters, you're welcome to do that on Mimir's post when it goes up at the end of the event to invite interested Travelers to Vanaheim. Otherwise, if you'd like to start some OOC discussion with fellow players or me about what there might even be to look into, go ahead and do it here!

Howdy guys! I'm still alive, believe it or not, and I'm here with the events for the rest of January and through February.

As a heads up, the full month of February is going to be a little different than the standard event format: as the world tree grows sicker and the magic in the city begins to unravel, characters in-game are going to be given ample opportunity to explore, discover, and contribute to a solution. There is a "fall-back" ending in place, but I want to emphasize that it is far from set in stone! More IC and OOC details on how to go about this will go up on February 1st accompanying the message that the gods send to the characters' bracelets.

As another heads-up, this month's AC check-in will be the very last.

Because of the nature of the events, I've changed the way the calendar is handled slightly: instead of using the standard HTML calendar, I've transferred it to a Google one, just because events are running throughout the month and this makes it a little easier to parse! As always, they're located here!

January 27-Feb 2: E.T. Phone Home Pt. 1 )

February 3-10: E.T. Phone Home Pt. 2 )

January 28-31: HOT UNDER THE COLLAR )

Feb 11-16, 21-24, 27-28: A VISIT TO THE NEIGHBORS, CAN WE FIX IT: REPRISE, & THE WAY BACK )

Plot Fast Facts )

As a note: February 28th will mark the end of the game's over-arcing metaplot! Smaller and celebratory events (and perhaps mini world quests or curses) will go throughout the months of March and April to allow players to reach a resolution for any storylines or CR that still needs wrapping up. The mechanics of this are tba, but characters themselves will be given an option to leave immediately or to stick around for a while to help facilitate this option.

If there's anything that I can do, please let me know! And as always, thanks for your eternal patience with my tardiness - because I do declare, trying to wrap this game up is going to give me the vapors. You guys kick ass, and I look forward to kicking much of it this last plotty month with you!

27 December 2014 @ 04:11 pm
PLOT EVENT: INTO THE FIRE (DEC 27-31/DAYS 561-563) The plot event Into the Fire is slotted for December 27-31. It is an optional event that involves light canon-sharing aspects and will bring both an important message from the Mother and critical information regarding Surt's location.

Howdy, howdy! Here is Faith with her very first monthly run-down post for y'all, so please bear with me on any awkwardness or mistakes, as I am prone to both, lbr. But anyhow! Let's start this off with a few quick reminders.

First and foremost, a tip of the hat to the lovely Tosshi and Manda, who as of this month will have officially stepped down from their modly positions. We are eternally grateful for all of the time, effort, love and devotion you guys have poured into this wonderful game. There truly are not enough thanks to go around.

The mod contact page has been updated to reflect these changes. Please do not hesitate to contact AJ, Draggy or me for all of your future modly needs! We are here for you, so do let us know if there ever is anything we can do for you, the game at large, or anything that needs improved upon. There's sure to be some dust as we work through these changes, so thank you for bearing with us!

Second, there are some new features being implemented into gameplay, both ICly and OOCly: IC Contact posts for a few of the gods, an Archive page for old calendars, and updates to the plot doc. There's more information on each of those on this post from a week ago, just in case you didn't see it then.

And for our announcement, we'd like to welcome Waffle to the mod helper team! She will be playing the NPC Jormungand, so let's give her a hearty thank you and keep an eye out for him!

Now onto the super exciting stuff! Here are your events for April, which can always be found on the schedule here.

April 8-12: Sweet Dreams )

April 23-24: Happy Hunting )
And that's it for April! Remember to comment to Activity Check and please direct any questions/comments/concerns/dirty jokes to the appropriate ( or inappropriate? ) mod questions comment below. Thanks!

Hey guys! Just a note that the first log for the Under the Sea plot is up!

Edit: The Library Plot mingle is up!

Edit 2: The second event log is up!

Lastly, our choice for Traveller to report to the Gods after the mission (as in this sign-up) is Jon Snow. To his player, if you're unable or unwilling to do an NPC thread after the event, please let us know and we'll choose an alternate. Congrats!

01 March 2013 @ 05:01 am
Hi guys! Tosshi here with a slightly late monthly rundown. Before I get to the events, I have a few announcements to make!

First, we have a few staff openings. There is an NPC up for grabs on the NC apps page, and we also need a few more app team members. If you'd like to be on the app team, please see this comment in this post for a form to fill out. Please note that app team members are partially chosen based on OOC attitude and whether we know you. App standards can vary wildly from person to person and app judging (especially when friends are involved) can involve discussions and disagreements, so we're only able to put people on the team that we're sure will work with our standards and get along with the whole team. This applies to the NPC team too to a lesser extent.

Second, almost all of the game info has slight updates. I've gone through and updated the flavor text to match the progress the game has gone through since opening and to clarify a few slightly confusing points (like hiatus options and canon updates). The only real change is that as of now, Loki's stupid-ass guide is now shown the first time a bracelet is turned on and can be accessed at any time by a link. You guys asked for it. ;) The plot GDOC has yet to be updated but will be very soon.

Third, a mod team change! After a year and four months of modding Asgard, I'm going to be stepping down from the mod team at the end of this month. It's been a great time and I love this game dearly, but I'm feeling a bit burnt out on modding it and would like to move on to a new project and you guys don't deserve my lag. The current rest of the team are really great people and have been doing the majority of the non-app work (mostly everything but the schedule and these plot posts tbh) lately, so I'm 100% confident that they'll do a great job without me! I'll be staying on with my NPCs and on the app team, as well as sticking around as a player. Also, for the rest of March please start directing comments/questions to the other mods or to the mod journal/email/plurk as a whole. I'm here to answer any world-building questions that you'd like clarified before I leave, but otherwise I'm going to be pretty much gone outside of running the plots this month. At the end of March I'll be completely off the team! Lastly, for now the current team is going to see how they fare on their own. If they need to open mod apps they'll do so at their own discretion. Thanks everyone for being such great players and making the game I created a wonderful experience!

Fourth, how are we doing? We'd like to ask you guys to use the discussion thread below to talk about how you think the game's going. What changes would you like to see? What systems do you like or dislike? Let's see what we can do to keep the game going strong!

Fifth, we're canceling the plan to have monthly Utgard logs. The first one was pretty much unused and we forgot the second, so there's not much point to them! Your characters can always go to Utgard whenever they like, so feel free to do your own open logs if you send someone!

And now onto the plots for March! You can see the calendar here as usual.

March 8-11: New Year's Bloom )

March 22-28: Under the Sea/The Pursuit of Knowledge )

Please direct any questions to the appropriate mod questions threads below. Thank you!

10 February 2013 @ 03:22 pm
Hi guys!

We noticed we have been low on really fun, widely playable mod events lately, so we've stuck one in on the end of the calendar for this month. We'll be adding a link to this on the main plot post too, but I'll run it down here.

With the resurgence of the greyness after the battle last fall, the city could really use a burst of colour. In the name of generating some emotion, on Day 226 (February 26-27), the gods will be giving out some sweet nudges in the right direction. There will be a brief showering of candy hearts in the wee morning hours -- just enough to leave a few scattered around the city. For the rest of the day, if your character crushes a candy heart (by stepping on it, eating it -- anything that destroys it) they'll be compelled to do the act printed on the candy to the next fellow Traveller they see!

There are six kinds of hearts your character might find. Three of them are positive and taste sweet and three of them are negative and taste sour. The candies are as follows:

Hug Me: What it says on the tin. Your character will have to hug the next player character they see!
Kiss Me: Whether it's a peck on the cheek or a lot of tongue is up to the player, but your character will be compelled to kiss the next Traveller they run into!
Be Nice: Characters who get this heart will have to compliment the next Traveller they see. Compliments have to be genuine, but they could be anything from "nice shoes" to "I think you're beautiful" -- up to the player!
Pinch Me: This is self-explanatory. Characters will have to pinch the next character they see -- hard! Where doesn't matter.
Hit Me: This could be a slap, a punch, or a kick -- either way, characters who get this candy will be compelled to strike the next Traveller they encounter!
Be Rough: This candy forces the character to insult the next player character they come across. Insults have to actually apply to the character in question, but they can be mostly harmless or truly cruel -- up to you!

A few additional rules:
  • NPCs Don't Count: This only applies to player characters! Natives won't be affected, nor will Traveller compulsions apply to them.

  • Unlimited Candies: You can have your character run into as many candies as you like or none at all. This is opt-in and there's no max limit, so plot with as many people as you like! Repeat candies are A-OK!

  • Be Considerate: Remember to make sure you ask other players before doing anything to their characters! Since some of this meme involves touching it's always best to cover your bases.

Use this post to plot away! Questions can as always be directed to the mod questions thread in this post. :)

31 January 2013 @ 05:03 pm
Hey guys! It's monthly run-down time, so settle in and let's go.

First, an apology for the mod team's lag this month. It just happened to be a busy month IRL for all of us at once, and we did let things slip pretty badly! As of this post we'll be mostly on top of everything, so let's all hope for a more organized and efficient February!

Second, miscellaneous event things! The results of the plot poll are finalized! We'll be running the rescue mission in late March, so be ready for that! :) As for January's events, since we weren't able to get an event-capping NPC post up, here's the winners for that:

"Most Helpful" went to Conan Edogawa in Hel. Everyone in Hel House will find a nice winter coat in their preferred style in their closet the next time they look, as well as a big jar of either coffee OR hot cocoa mix!

"Most Creative" went to Leonardo da Vinci in Freyr. Everyone in Freyr House will get either a pair of ice skates or nice boots and a coupon for a free hot dinner at any restaurant in the city! NPC run businesses aren't obligated to participate but will be compensated for the cost if they do.

"Most Submissions" went to Baldr House! Everyone in Baldr House will get a nice hat & scarf set in their preferred style and a big tub of ice cream that never melts as long as it's in the tub. The ice cream can come in any flavor -- even weird ones. Anything edible!

And third, the February Calendar is up! As you can see, there's only one event, but it's a big block! So here's your details on that:

On Day 218 (February 10-11), there will be buzz all around the Arena. Today is the set-up and pre-partying for a great Traveller-run Tournament! From Day 219-221 (February 12-17) is the physical Tournament of Worlds! Immediately after, on Days 222-223 (February 18-21), is the Tournament of Magic! Both of these are free for everyone to enter.

If your character isn't a combatant, there are still things to do! There will be a catch-all log for the tournament, and within it you'll be welcome to be a healer, a food dealer, etc. There will be plenty of booths outside the Arena where characters could set up temporary mini-shops, or you could just be a spectator. You could even be a heckler or stage a protest! Feel free to use this post for all the plotting you like!

Special thanks to Faith & Kamilah and everyone who's worked with them to create this event! If you have questions you can use the thread below or go to them specially.

Lastly, the usual notes. Apps open February 3! Activity Check closes at 11:59pm tomorrow, February 1! And finally, please use your characters' comm tags! Direct questions to the appropriate thread below, and thank you!

23 January 2013 @ 05:27 pm
Hey guys!

We just want to apologize for the event not starting when it was supposed to! :( It's been a hectic month for the mods, but we're getting on track with everything now.

Due to the delay, we'e pushed the dates of the event back. It's now from Today, Jan 23 - Jan 26 with the winners announced on the 27th. We're updating the event info and calendar to reflect this right now.

The NPC kick-off is here and the mingle/submissions are here!

Also, February's calendar & event post are coming soon!

Thank you for bearing with our mistake, and have fun!

HEY GUYS TOSSHI HERE ON A CHARACTER ACCOUNT. :")

So you may have seen Loki's post over here. This is the kick-off for this arc! This is the plot referenced in the monthly run-down here. In short, the characters are choosing whether to save Freyr or kill Freya. But of course, the players' wishes might not line up with the wishes of whichever characters make it into the IC discussion, so we're having an official poll here. If you don't like either option, you can vote "other", but please let us know why and what you'd suggest instead.

We're also polling on when's the best time to run the resulting event. Either way it will be an opt-in expedition to an under-sea city and some awesome deep-sea ruins. There will only be enough time ICly to find one of the two possible info bits. We'll either run the plot in March or April, whichever is easier for you guys! We'll give another poll at the time of that plot as to when the last one of the Arc will happen (May/June if the first is in March, June/July if it's in April).

Please only vote once per player If you vote twice by accident, ping a mod and we'll remove one of your votes for you, no problem! As always, questions go in the thread below. Thank you!

Open to: Registered Users, detailed results viewable to: Just the Poll Creator, participants: 53

Which route should the plot take?

Rescuing Freyr
42 (79.2%)

Destroying Freya
9 (17.0%)

Other? (please comment on the post)
2 (3.8%)

When should the next Plot Event go down?

Early March
13 (26.5%)

Late March
24 (49.0%)

Early April
8 (16.3%)

Late April
4 (8.2%)

Hey guys! Here's that last-minute info on what's going down New Years re: Runic Magic.

There is now a mod page on the subject here, though most of the info is still here and will be as long as Dawn's around. Thanks again to Dawn for developing and maintaining this system!

On Day 198 (January 1), right at midnight, all the symbols that've been painted around the city will light up in one big lightshow. Accompanying it will be a spectacular aurora in the sky, much like the Northern Lights, but full of tiny floaty rune symbols. The show will last about an IC hour, after which Runic Magic will be functional!

The explanation for this is that the same anomaly that caused the greyness suppressed the natural magical energies of the area that non-Gods/Giants would use. Aladdin's spell has kickstarted it back into gear, and since so much of the sickness is healed it'll keep going. Have fun with that! :) We'll be wrapping up approvals and rejections of current submissions very soon!

The plot doc is currently up to date in prep for Arc 2! The timeline page is also up to date. Note that the colour levels have dropped everywhere but player-run buildings. This will be addressed in the npc post that's about to go up. Lastly, a reminder to please tag your participation! Remember to use your character tag when you comment to a post as well as when you make one. Thank you!

Also just as a note I've changed my AIM from yellowflagorchestra to e rank lunk. If you had me on your buddy list please update! :) Never hesitate to ping me if you need me or just want to chat.

And now, since the December Calendar is posted, events!

Hey guys! It's that time again, and it's super super important to read up on the plotting this time! Unfortunately, there won't be an alternate opt-out plot for this, since it is the arc-ending plotting. Do remember though that there will be a nice big breather after this, so it won't be crazy for long!

The end-arc plotting lasts from November 2 - 17. However, the actual events of the plot are spaced out a bit. Here's a timeline of what will be happening!

PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS )

And now, another thing! Due to some real life stuff, Yana has had to step out of her mod position. This means we are in the market for a full-time mod. Primarily, you'll be helping update the taken/housing/player contact lists, process drops, and tally AC. You will of course be privy to all mod info and welcome to answer questions, as well as helping us making major decisions as a team and providing your input on player conflict issues. A mod needs to be willing to talk to players, ask and answer questions, and take initiative to get things done without being reminded every time. Additionally, you need to be able to get along with the rest of the team. You'll also be asked to add Tosshi on plurk even if it's just with a dummy account, as a lot of real-time discussion and pinging about tasks happens in cliqued plurks.

If you're interested, please see the appropriate mod comment below. Mod apps will be public, as the mod position requires being open and talking to players. We will be accepting applications til 12:01am CST on Nov 1. If you as a player see a mod app from someone you strongly object to, please let us know asap. It's better to sort those things out early!

And lastly, any questions about plotting or the mod position can be directed to the mod questions threads below! Thank you for reading!
